A cháirde, seo dhibh alth do scríos ar rialacha guthaí cúnta i nGaelainn Chorcaí. Má chíonn tú aon adhb nú botún ann, dein dithneas, led thoil, agus é ‘ chuir in úil dom.
Dia dhuit! Tell please, how to pronounce “geolbhaigh”? There are several variants in opinion: g’o:lig’, g’o:lug’, g’o:läväg’? Sorry for my English.
Hi, it’s not a question of varying opinions. There are people who know and people who don’t know. None of the pronunciations you cite is correct. It is /g’o:lvig’/. The reason there is no epenthetic vowel is because o: is long and an epenthetic vowel is not formed after a long vowel. See also http://www.teanglann.ie/en/fgb/geolbhach
Thank you! Do cloisinn an focal so ar teanglann, ach chaith focail eile (m.sh. marbha [maru: ], sléibhe [šle: ]) amhras orm. Sorry for my gaeilge. GRMA!
