Ach bhí na hAllobróga i bhfad i gcás ’dir dhá chómhairle i dtaobh cad ba mhaith dhóibh a dhéanamh. Bhí ar thaobh, na fiacha, a ndúil i gcogadh, an tairbhe mór a thiocfadh as an mbua lena raibh súil acu. Bhí ar an dtaobh eile, an bhreis shaibhris, an bheart shiúrálta, an tairbhe ’na raibh deimhne air in inead an tairbhe ná raibh deimhne air. Bhíodar ag cur ’s ag cúiteamh. Fé dheireadh do rug séan na Rómha an bua. Do nochtadar an gnó go léir do Quintus Fabius Sanga, fear a dheineadh coimirce go minic dá gcathair. D’innis Sanga an scéal do Chiceró. Duairt Ciceró leis na teachtairíbh a leogaint orthu go raibh ana-bháidh acu leis an gceilg; aithne ’ chur ar an gcuid eile acu; geallúna maithe ’ thabhairt dóibh; dícheall a dhéanamh ar iad a bheith chómh soiléir sa choir acu agus dob fhéidir é.
